Dr. Jack Griffin of Eureka Smiles discusses the importance of patient education and the chapter he recently authored for: A Cup of Coffee with 10 of the Top Cosmetic Dentists in the United States.

Eureka, MO – When considering any type of cosmetic dentistry treatment, patients should have a full understanding of what to expect from the procedure and how it can meet their needs and goals, says Dr. Jack Griffin, a cosmetic dentist in Eureka and the St. Louis area. Dr. Griffin recently contributed a chapter to a book called, A Cup of Coffee With 10 of the Top Cosmetic Dentists in the United States: Valuable Insights You Should Know Before You Have Cosmetic Dental Work Done, spearheaded by authors Randy Rutherford, DDS and Randy Van Ittersum. He says the book offers readers who are looking to renew the appearance of their teeth and gums a wealth of useful information. “The goal was to create an informal book, told in casual fashion, which was meant to educate people interested in aesthetic dentistry, kind of like discussing something with a friend over a ‘cup of coffee.’”

The book covers a number of topics related to cosmetic dental care, including how to choose the right cosmetic dentist, the far-reaching and significant ways cosmetic dentistry can change one’s entire life for the better, and just how much of an impact a beautiful smile can ultimately have. Dr. Griffin’s chapter, “Investment in Yourself,” includes discussion of procedures such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, gum therapy, orthodontics, and other options. “The best thing a patient can take from the book is a very honest discussion of choices to make when considering cosmetic dentistry. The more educated the patient is, the more likely they are to receive the treatment that best meets a combination of their desires and dental needs.”

Dr. Griffin says the fact that proceeds from the book are going to Kiwanis International, a global volunteer organization, makes it even more of a privilege to be involved. “The desire to help children goes along well with the mission of most dentists: to help people. It’s really cool to be involved with a project like this knowing that none of the contributors make any money from it and that all of the money was to be donated to a charity.”

Ultimately, Dr. Griffin says he was fortunate in a number of ways to be given the chance to contribute to the book, allowing him to serve many people and interests at once. “Teaching, sharing, and giving back to the profession are very important to me and the opportunity to help patients across the country is an honor. I hope we can make patients better able to make wise choices, resulting in a lifetime of great smiling.”
