BOTOX® Cosmetic is an exciting addition to the many treatments at Eureka Smiles designed to help you live a more confident and pain-free life. BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable neurotoxin that can relax the muscles in the areas of application. This can have a number of positive effects, from softening wrinkles in expressive regions of the face to alleviating jaw pain caused by teeth clenching and grinding. While you may not initially associate BOTOX® Cosmetic injections with the dentist’s office, concerns treated with this neuromodulator can very much influence your oral and physiological health. Dr. Mike Menolascino, our extensively skilled cosmetic dentist, has been certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE) to provide BOTOX® Cosmetic injections for both medical and cosmetic purposes.

Depending on your individual concerns, BOTOX® Cosmetic can be a simple, convenient, and minimally invasive way to help you achieve a younger-looking smile. Contact Eureka Smiles online or by calling (636) 938-6241 to schedule a consultation, or to learn more about treatment.

Why Should a Dentist Perform Your BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections?

As healthcare professionals with intimate knowledge of the orofacial anatomy, dentists can be uniquely qualified to administer BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Cosmetic dentists, in particular, can use injectables like BOTOX® Cosmetic during a smile makeover to reduce lip lines (commonly known as “smoker’s lines”) and wrinkles framing your smile. While BOTOX® Cosmetic is most popularly injected to smooth fine lines, treatment is also utilized to treat a variety of dental conditions, including bruxism (teeth clenching) and jaw joint dysfunctions. With that in mind, dentists often have the training and experience necessary to maximize the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic, whether injections are utilized for therapeutic or cosmetic reasons.

What Concerns Can BOTOX® Cosmetic Treat?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is most frequently injected to soften wrinkles and achieve a more youthful, carefree appearance. Though many individuals receive injections for aesthetic reasons, BOTOX® Cosmetic can also help improve concerns ranging from wrinkle reduction to bruxism. Some of the issues that can be treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic include:

  • Wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions, such as frown lines, creases in the brow, lip lines, and “crow’s feet”
  • A high smile line caused by overactive lip muscles, potentially revealing a “gummy” smile
  • Soreness or pain caused by teeth grinding/clenching
  • Pain caused by overactive jaw muscles, or TMJ disorder symptoms

Dr. Menolascino will speak with you about your concerns and overall goals to determine whether BOTOX® Cosmetic is the best treatment for your needs. This injectable can benefit virtually any patient who would like to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the face.

What Can I Expect During BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an in-office treatment performed at Eureka Smiles. Injections typically take no longer than 15 to 30 minutes depending on the extent of your concerns. Upon confirming the details of your treatment plan, Dr. Menolascino will carefully inject BOTOX® Cosmetic into the planned treatment areas with a fine needle until the desired outcome is achieved. This process does not require anesthesia, but Dr. Menolascino can utilize a topical numbing agent to increase patient comfort if desired. Although some swelling after injections is common, inflammation should fade naturally soon after treatment. There is no downtime or recovery period necessary.

How Long Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Last?

In the majority of cases, the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic last three to four months. Some patients even enjoy the results of BOTOX® Cosmetic for as long as six months, but the longevity will vary from person to person. It may take approximately four to seven days for the results of BOTOX® Cosmetic to come to fruition. If you notice your rejuvenation starting to dwindle, touch-up treatments can help you maintain the outcome.

The team at Eureka Smiles not only focuses on improving your smile, but we’re also committed to providing treatments that can uplift your confidence and quality of life. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an initial appointment.
