One of the big advantages of CEREC machine is that we are able to customize our crowns in one visit in our own office. We have the CEREC machine where we make the porcelain in one visit and then we have the ability in our office to do customized staining so that the teeth match almost perfectly with the teeth around them. When we make porcelain crown for the front teeth, special care has to be taken that they match just perfectly. What we are doing here is adding porcelain stain to the surface of the tooth according to the patient’s real teeth in the mouth so that when we are finished, the stain that she is adding is baked right into the porcelain. Once the customized stain is placed on the porcelain, we place it into a firing oven and inside the firing oven, it heats the porcelain up to a certain temperature so that the stain will become one and fuse with the porcelain and that makes it real life-like effect that lasts pretty much forever on the crown. When they come out of the oven, the stain has been baked onto the porcelain and it gives a real life-like appearance that way the tooth blends in ideally without being noticed.
